From the South it is very easy to find us.When you come in on State Highway 3 from Inglewood, you will see the 50km speed signs and we are the 5th street on the right after that. Important things to look out for on your way are the Bicycle shop, Dairy and Fish and Chip shop located on the right. On the left you will see the Pukekura Raceway (a green expanse with a white fence). Timandra Street is located directly opposite a small bus shelter. If you are arriving during the day you will see our black and yellow Sunflower Lodge Sign on the corner of Timandra Street. If you are arriving at night you will see the luminous green sign for another motel on the small bus shelter.
From the North, you will enter New Plymouth from South Highway 3, which takes you into town past Countdown, The Mill and eventually you will see MacDonalds at the traffic lights. Turn left at the lights and follow the SH3 signs to Inglewood and Wanganui. Drive up the hill and past New Plymouth Boys' High School on the left. Timandra Street is the 5th street on the left after the zebra crossing at the high school.
From Surf Highway. You will come in on South Road, which changes to Devon Street West once in town. At the first set of lights on the Morley Street Corner turn right, and then first left into the "one way street" Powderham. Stay on this road through a few sets of lights, and you will see Pak N Save on the right. After Pak'N'Save turn right onto Elliot Street/SH3. At the next set of traffic lights you will see MacDonald's on your right-hand corner. Go straight ahead and follow the SH3 signs to Inglewood and Wanganui. Drive up the hill and past New Plymouth Boys' High School on the left. Timandra Street is the 5th street on the left after the zebra crossing at the high school.
Getting here by Bus.
Three bus services are available: Dalroys, Intercity, and the Naked Bus. All three buses drop off at the Travel Centre located on Ariki Street, behind the I-site and Puke Ariki museum.
The Intercity and the Naked bus will drop off and pick up at "Boys High School (NBH)", which is just a short walk to our lodge. (Follow the directions by Car as if driving from the North). With both bus companies you must specifically pre-book the high school drop off/pick up as they must stick to a designated pre-booked itinerary for insurance reasons.
Dalroys Express is a small privately run bus service, which runs between Auckland and New Plymouth and only drops off and picks up from the Travel Centre. Schedules are the same each day from Mon-Fri and are different on Sunday. At this time the service only runs during the summer months.
If you are staying a minimum of two nights with us, and book in advance, we offer a free pick up service from the Travel Centre. When you book, let us know you are traveling by bus and give us your estimated arrival time. When you arrive you can call us on free phone 0800 422 257 and we'll come pick you up.
